Palma in Majorca is a beautiful city and a rare gem. This is the view of a travel writer who embarked on a wonderful Majorca holiday to the island's capital. Liam Chronnell claims to have discovered the delights of Palma, a place where few people decide to stay after arriving at the airport on their way to Magaluf or Puerto Pollensa. Those that know about Majorca realise Palma is a "beautiful city" with an eclectic mix of Roman, Arab and Catalan influences, he said. Mr Chronnell, writing for the Bolton News, believes the economic and cultural hub of the island is a "rare gem, rich in history, architecture and, perhaps most of all, places to eat". The writer is not alone in these thoughts as the capital has been a millionaire's playground since the 1930s but its wealth of history, culture and evening entertainment often surprises visitors.
