Majorca has significant appeal as an activity destination in the winter.
The Travel Trade Gazette claims that Majorca has mass appeal as either a long-stay destination or a place to go hiking, trekking, cycling, mountain biking and even sailing.
It claimed that although Majorca is slightly cooler in the winter than its Spanish counterparts Costa Blanca or Costa del Sol, the temperatures make it ideal for an activity holiday.
Simon Calder of the Independent has also championed Majorca as a place of beauty during the winter period.
"The seascapes of the Balearics are virtually unblemished between late October and a week before Easter," he said.
Mr Calder said the 19th-century European aristocracy "understood the appeal" of a Majorca holiday in winter, as did "luminaries such as [Frederic] Chopin and George Sand".
Composer Chopin lived in a monastery in the mountain village of Valldemossa during the winter of 1938-1939 and those wanting to find out about Majorca and the musician's time there could visit the old village and museum.
