The sandy beaches around the coastline of Majorca are getting cleaner every year.
New figures from a regional environment ministry report for July confirmed that the amount of litter removed from the Balearic islands' beaches has fallen by almost 80 per cent in a year, the Majorca Daily Bulletin has reported.
The beach at Alcudia is one of the finest of the island's 80 beaches and stretches for 11 kilometres. At the resort the sand shelves so slowly into the warm Mediterranean that the resort is ideal for those with a young family who may wish to stay at the Bellvue Apartments.
Couples that are wishing to book a holiday in Majorca and looking for some privacy can reach out their maps and head to the south-eastern tip of the island for Cala Mondrago, which offers two sizeable sandy coves and generous helping of seclusion.
The tourist board of Majorca has estimated that the island has been visited by over 180 million people in the last 100 years.
