There is more about Majorca than just stunning beaches and azure swimming pools it has been claimed.
According to the Telegraph, Britons enjoying Majorca holidays this summer can choose to escape the crowds and see the "unspoilt" north-west of the island.
The publication claims that this region is a "paradise" for walkers due to its rocky coves and beautifully floral hill villages.
This area of Majorca is also steeped in artistic history, having once been home to the famous British poet and novelist Robert Graves.
Other luminaries to have graced the walkways of north-west Majorca have included the famous composer Chopin and his artist partner George Sand who spent a winter in the monastery in the hopes that the temperate climate of the Balearic island would improve Chopin's health.
The impact of such visits as these on Majorca can be seen in the adoption of festivals such as the Valldemossa Chopin Festival which takes place annually in August.
