A famous landmark in Majorca is set to open to the public this autumn according to one commentator.
The Majorca Daily Bulletin reports that official bodies are seeking to open up the Raixa country estate in Bunyola to tourists on holiday in Majorca from September.
A joint deal has been signed between the Spanish Biodiversity Foundation, the Council of Majorca and the University of the Balearic Islands to restore the property in a bid to attract tourists to Raixa.
Raixa, is classed as of Cultural Interest after being transformed by Antoni Despuig i Dameto from old agricultural farm buildings into an Italian-styled palace surrounded by "the most emblematic gardens in Majorca", Majorca Web notes.
The finca is full of information about Majorca and the island's history, dating back to the period of the moors.
In more recent years, Raixa was used as the setting for filming for a number of productions, including Agatha Christie adaptation Evil Under the Sun, Bearn and Presence of Mind starring Harvey Keitel and Lauren Bacall.
More information about Majorca and the different areas to visit can be found here.
