Majorca has been put on heat wave alert with temperatures of up to 40 degrees C set for the island.
Those walking about Majorca while on their breaks were advised by Civil Protection to wear a hat and take regular breaks in the shade, Majorca Daily Bulletin reports.
The environmental agency also recommended that people do not undertake any tasks that require them to spend an overly long period in the sunshine.
Agusti Jansa - the Balearic meteorological office - said about Majorca that the average summer temperature is 25 degrees C. However, it predicts this year that the average high will be one degree higher.
The forecast echoes a report from the Spanish weather office Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterraneo, which also envisages higher than usual temperatures.
