News Article Holidays to Palma said to still be popular
Monday 7th Sep 2009 at 10:33
Holidays to European cities such as Palma are apparently still proving popular with Britons.

According to Abta – The Travel Association, destinations in Spain are still among the places vacationers want to go for a short break.

Spokeswoman for the organisation Frances Tuke remarked: "France and Spain are popular for obvious reasons.

"Any major European cities are big on the short break front."

She was reacting to recent research by Visa Europe, which found the UK''s favourite holiday hotspot is Spain, followed by the likes of Greece and the USA.

The report noted a shift in the way tourists are booking their breaks, with 34 per cent deciding to go on multiple small vacations rather than the traditional two-week summer jaunt.

Some 83 per cent of respondents to the poll revealed plans for up to five short trips this year.

The main priorities for those quizzed were relaxing and sun bathing – something which a holiday to Majorca could offer.ADNFCR-917-ID-19349673-ADNFCR
