| A man from Huddersfield who has helped raise thousands for charity has done so in part by getting creative on holidays to Majorca. Peter Armitage, 74, is the father of noted British poet Simon Armitage and the local newspaper said the Balearic Island helps him concentrate. He writes plays for theatre troupe the Avalanche Dodgers and said away from normal distractions, he is able to transform popular stories into funny stage versions within a fortnight. The Huddersfield Examiner reported on how the acting group have been shortlisted for an arts award in the area. Mr Armitage''s story may highlight how much Majorca is thought of as a fun holiday destination - yet there is more on offer for those who like to enjoy Mediterranean culture. One must-see for keen explorers is Palma Cathedral or La Seu as it is also known. The gothic structure dates back to the 13th century, when building on it began. ![]() |
