News Article Majorca described as thoughtful holiday destination
Monday 15th Jun 2009 at 08:59
Majorca does much more than simply cater for mass-market holidaymakers searching for a cheap vacation, it has been claimed.

The Daily Mail''s Frank Barrett wrote this week that the island "has been one of Spain''s more thoughtful holiday destinations for more than 100 years", attracting a host of celebrities from composer Frederic Chopin through to Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

He added that it is "a sophisticated" location that tops many of its Mediterranean counterparts and offers a wide range of things to do and see, with "great" bars and restaurants, nice shops and impressive religious buildings.

Mr Barrett suggested that Majorca is even doing well amid the economic downturn, with his 95 per cent full flights to and from Palma on easyJet indicating the island is doing a roaring trade in late bookings.

Last month, Graham Keeley of the Times also claimed that there is a different side to Majorca, stating that it offers some of Europe''s best hiking routes.
