| Dave Whelan is taking a break from the UK and enjoying a Majorca holiday. The Wigan Athletic FC chairman has headed to the island after a Premier League campaign that saw the team finish 11th. However, he has not completely left his work behind and has started his search for a new manager while topping up his tan. Steve Bruce quit as the boss of his club earlier this week to take over the reigns of Sunderland. Bruce signed a three-year contract with the Black Cats after a 20[-]month spell at the helm of the Lancashire side. News reports suggest Whelan could be lining up Swansea boss Roberto Martinez and Peterborough chief Darren Ferguson as his replacement. Those in the know about Majorca will already be aware it is the place football stars go to get away from it all. Germany coach Joachim Low and Annan Athletic midfielder Chris Jardine have both enjoy vacations to the destination recently. ![]() |
