| Those seeking information about Majorca and its beaches may be interested to learn they have been recognised for their excellence. Some 58 of the island''s coastal spots and marinas have been awarded the Blue Flag, according to the Majorca Daily Bulletin. The award is given to sandy areas in recognition of their cleanliness, quality of water and eco-friendliness. It is owned and run by the independent non-profit board the Foundation for Environmental Education – who gave out the gong to 3,200 places in 2008 According to the news provider, some of the Balearic destination''s beaches were recognised for the first time, including Santa Ponsa. Portals'' Orantori and Palma''s Can Pere Antoni were also successful. A report last year confirmed the amount of litter on Majorca''s beaches had fallen by 80 per cent in a year. C''an Pastilla''s sandy spot, meanwhile, is currently undergoing improvements. Among the adjustments is the installation of new showers - perfect for keeping sun seekers cool in the midday heat. ![]() |
